When Sardar Udham was the background artist in a British film Vicky Kaushal revealed an


New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal will soon be seen in Shoojit Sircar’s film ‘Sardar Udham’, which is based on the life of Indian revolutionary and freedom fighter Udham Singh. Vicky has shared an interesting fact about the freedom fighter on Instagram on Saturday 9 October. Sharing a picture of the film, he said that Sardar Udham had done a lot in London apart from working as a background artist in a British film titled ‘The Elephant Man’.

According to the report of The Indian Express, Vicky Kaushal is referring to the 1937 film ‘Elephant Boy’, whose name he has mispronounced in the post. According to Roger Perkins’ 1989 book ‘The Amritsar Legacy’, Udham Singh played a background artist in the film ‘Elephant Boy’ based on the story of Rudyard Kipling’s ‘The Jungle Book’.

‘The Elephant Man’ is a British film which was released in 1980, not long after the death of Sardar Udham Singh. Directed by David Lynch, the film starred the late John Hurt and Anthony Hopkins. Directed by Shoojit Sircar, ‘Sardar Udham’ also stars Sean Scott, Stephen Hogan, Banita Sandhu, Kirsty Everton and Amol Parashar in pivotal roles. The film is about a freedom fighter who traveled to London to assassinate the Jallianwala Bagh massacre mastermind Michael O’Dwyer. ‘Sardar Udham’ will be released on 16 October on Amazon Prime Video.
