IPL 2021, Qualifier 1, DC vs CSK: Will Dhoni change after 3 consecutive losses? This could be the playing XI of CSK

New Delhi. Aiming to move one step closer to lifting their fourth Indian Premier League (IPL) title, the Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) in the first qualifier of the season. With a win against Delhi Capitals, CSK will advance to the final, which is to be played on October 15. However, a defeat will not end their chances but will certainly delay their plans. Hence, Yellow Army will aim to come up with their ‘A Game’ and go to the finals soon.

Chennai Super Kings, the first team to qualify for the second round of the season, are entering the playoffs with three consecutive losses. However, these consecutive defeats for Chennai can prove to be dangerous, but a senior team like CSK knows how to proceed in the crucial stages. They might not be too worried about what happened in the league stage. Going into the match, all eyes will be on whether Suresh Raina plays or not? And what changes does Mahendra Singh Dhoni make in the playing XI after the team’s three consecutive defeats? Have a look at CSK’s probable playing XI:

IPL 2021: Rishabh Pant will once again create history as soon as he takes the field in the playoff against CSK

Openers: Chennai Super Kings will not make any changes in their openers. Faf du Plessis and Ruturaj Gaikwad have done a great job for CSK and the same pair will continue to open the innings for the team. Second-ranked Du Plessis has 546 runs in the season while Gaikwad has scored 533 runs. He also won the Orange Cap at one time.

Middle Order: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is known to support the players and the middle order is bound to remain so. Moeen Ali will bat on 3 while Ambati Rayudu will bat on 4. If fit, Suresh Raina will be involved in a selection and he will replace Robin Uthappa, who hasn’t done well on two occasions. If Raina is unfit, Uthappa will retain his place. Dhoni is unlikely to promote himself beyond Ravindra Jadeja in the qualifiers.

All Rounders: Ravindra Jadeja has been a star all-rounder for Chennai Super Kings and will continue to work for the team. Dwayne Bravo has been one of the wickets of the Yellow Army and will now look to add a few wickets to his tally in crucial matches.

IPL 2021 Qualifier 1: Chennai Super Kings to play their 23rd playoff match, know CSK’s records

Bowler: Deepak Chahar will lead the pace attack, which includes Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood. Chennai Super Kings does not play the role of a frontline spinner and relies on its all-rounders to do that job.

Probable Playing XI of Chennai Super Kings: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina/Robin Uthappa, Ambati Rayudu, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Josh Hazlewood.
