Due to heavy rains in Almora, the water of Kosi river had become dirty. Pumps did not work in Kosi for two days and the water supply in the entire city was stalled. When there is shortage of water in Almora, people become dependent on the sources (naulas). There are about 55 Naulas in the city. After the water crisis deepened, long queues of people were seen on these nalas. Children, youth, women and the elderly, all were seen waiting for their turn to get water.
Due to incessant rains in Almora, the water pipeline had collapsed at many places. A 15-inch-thick pipeline supplying water to the Circuit House tank collapsed due to a rock slide near Lower Mall Road. After which water supply was stopped in Khatyadi, Dugalkhola, Cantt area, Paltan Bazar, Mall Road, Thapliya, Thana Bazar, Johri Bazar, Kunwadkhola, Shailakhola, Joshikhola, Lower Mall Road. Due to lack of water in these areas, people filled water from the nalas.
KS Khati, executive engineer of Jal Sansthan, said that due to heavy rains, the water of Kosi river in Almora had become dirty, due to which there was water problem in Almora and pipelines collapsed at some places. Those damaged pipelines have now been repaired. After the pipelines have been repaired and the river water is clear, water has started coming in some areas.
