Delhi Women’s Commission took cognizance of the burning of a 19-year-old maid in Delhi


New Delhi. A case of burning a 19-year-old girl working as a domestic worker in Lajpat Nagar Central Market area in South Delhi has come to light. At the same time, the landlord is being accused of killing. On which the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) has now taken cognizance and issued a notice to the Delhi Police. The commission has asked the police to immediately register an FIR in this case regarding this heart-wrenching incident in the capital.

It was told by the Delhi Commission for Women that the victim girl lived in Madrasi Camp, Jal Vihar, Lajpat Nagar for the last two months. The girl’s mother told the commission that this morning her daughter Rani (name changed) had left home in the morning for work. After some time another daughter living in Tamil Nadu told him on the phone that she had received a call from Rani and she was crying.

Soon after getting the call from the Tamil Nadu daughter, the mother reached the house where Rani used to work but upon reaching there she found that her daughter was lying in a completely burnt bathroom and was dead while there was no one in the house. Seeing this, the mother screamed and the people around gathered. The mother says that what has been done to her daughter should be investigated.

After taking cognizance of this matter, the commission has issued a notice to the police and has asked to arrest the culprits at the earliest besides registering an FIR and also to submit the postmortem report. Commission chairperson Swati Maliwal says that this is a very serious crime. The condition of domestic workers in our country is very pathetic. A thorough investigation is needed in this matter and the girl should get justice. The girl has died a painful death.
