New Delhi. Delhi High Court has asked the Delhi government to send the issue to the religious committee for its approval for not fulfilling its promise to demolish an illegally built temple in South Delhi’s Defense Colony. pulled up on Thursday. The high court said the matter needs to be referred to the religious committee headed by the Lieutenant Governor only if it was a big temple, but if someone had laid some bricks overnight and there was no point in sending it to the committee.
Justice Rekha Palli said, ‘I want to see what is the probability of this? Whether merely laying a few bricks by someone comes within the purview of the religious committee, that is the question. Had there been a bigger temple, a religious committee might have been needed, but what if someone lays a few bricks overnight?’ The court said the Delhi government had earlier said that the authorities were planning to demolish the illegal structure on October 4, but now it has been referred to the religious committee.
