In Bairaskund village of Ghat block of Chamoli, in collaboration with the tourism department, regional youth are being trained under Adventure Foundation Course to deal with the situations of adventure tourism and disaster. In this, 35 people from nearby villages are participating, some of them are girls too.
All the trainees are being trained in adventure equipment like Jumar, Finger of Eight, Carabiner, Seat Harness under the course. Apart from this, training is also being given in mountain manners, river crossing, jummaring, bouldering, rappelling and other adventure sports.
Let us tell you that to promote adventure sports in the state, tourism department runs four to five adventure foundation course programs every year at different places, so that along with self-employment, young men and women learn the details of adventure and encourage adventure tourism.
