New Delhi. Hours before his resignation as Punjab Congress chief on Tuesday, Navjot Singh Sidhu, in his usual style, tweeted a poetic but cryptic tweet, sparking a wave of concern across the party. With the Congress already battling a power struggle in Punjab for the past several months, Sidhu’s tweet added to his unease.
Including a picture of freedom fighter Bhagat Singh, he said in a tweet, “Sakhtiyaan se ke kehte ke patthar ka jigar diya karo (Develop a stone-heart that can bear struggles), for the sake of the community that can cut, Woh head born (develop a head that can be grafted for the community), Inquilab Zindabad.”

Let us tell you that Navjot Singh Sidhu has resigned from the post of Congress’s Punjab unit president on Tuesday. In a letter to Congress President Sonia Gandhi, Sidhu has said that he will continue to serve the party. Sidhu took over as the party’s state unit president in July this year.
He wrote in a letter to Sonia Gandhi, “The decline in the personality of any person begins with compromise, I cannot compromise on the future of Punjab and the agenda of Punjab’s welfare.” He wrote, “Therefore, I resign as the President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee. I will continue to serve the Congress.”
