New Delhi. In the midst of fears of a third wave of the Kovid-19 pandemic, the festive season and people’s adherence to COVID-friendly behavior during this period will prove to be important factors. Experts said this on Friday. He said a new form of the virus could prove decisive in relation to the third wave as it would be more likely to spread rapidly to crowds during festivals.
Dr NK Arora, Chairman of the National Technical Advisory Group on Immunization, Kovid-19 Working Group, said that after the rapid vaccination for the last few months and no new form of SARS-CoV-2 has come to the fore, now the third wave is most concerned. The big danger will be when people forget to follow the rules in festivals. He said, ‘Social and religious events can spread the delta virus rapidly among people who are still at risk of infection. Therefore, it is strongly advised that people adopt covid friendly behavior with utmost sincerity and the administration should take strict measures to discourage social gathering.
What did Randeep Guleria say
At the same time, Randeep Guleria, director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), said, ‘At this time there is a rapid decline in the cases of Kovid-19 and the situation is much better. However, the festive season in the coming days and the lack of adherence to Kovid related practices during that time, large-scale mobilization can also prove to be the deciding factor for the third wave. He said that the next two to three months are important for prevention strategies to keep the situation better in the country.
Medical scientist and public health expert Chandrakant Laharia said that the number of cases of Kovid-19 coming daily is low and it has stabilized in most of the Indian states but the cases have seen an increase due to the gathering of people all over the world. Even if people are gathered in small numbers or in large numbers.
He said, ‘So the next three months are very important in which there will be many festivals. If people, especially those who have not received both doses of the vaccine, avoid visiting crowded places, there will be room to avert the next wave.
What will happen after all adults are vaccinated
Laharia said, ‘What will happen next year when most of the adult Indian population will be vaccinated. This will depend on the scientific understanding of the duration of immunity after vaccination, exposure to a worrying form of the virus and some other unknown factors. A scientist involved in creating a mathematical model of the pandemic feared in August that the third wave of Kovid-19 could peak between October and November if a more infectious form of the virus than the current forms emerges in India by September. . However, its intensity was expected to be less than that of the second wave.
