Durand Cup: 2-2 draw between Delhi and Bangalore, points had to be divided


Kolkata. Delhi FC and Bengaluru FC played out a 2-2 draw in a thrilling Group-C match in the 130th Durand Cup Football at Mohun Bagan ground in Kolkata on Saturday. Both the teams got 1-1 points from the draw match. Willis Deon Plaza scored both goals for Delhi FC, while Shiva Shakti N (27th) and Vidyasagar Singh (75th) scored for Bengaluru.

With the draw of this match, all the four teams of Group C have a chance to make it to the next round. In the first half of the match, both the teams created opportunities but most of the time they failed to capitalize on them. The players had to face trouble due to the wet ground. In the 27th minute of the match, Bengaluru opened the account with Shiva Shakti’s goal, after which Delhi’s team also created chances but their efforts were foiled by Bengaluru’s goalkeeper Lara.

After half time, Delhi started aggressively, which also benefited them. In the 58th minute of the match, the team leveled the score with a brilliant header from Willis. This player of the Trinidad and Tobago national team scored another goal in four minutes to take the team 2-1 in the match. Delhi’s team was in good shape after taking the lead but Vidyasagar of Bengaluru made no mistake in converting Harmanpreet Singh’s brilliant pass into goal.
