T20 WC, AFG vs SCO Highlights: Afghanistan beat Scotland by 130 runs, also became the group topper


Afghanistan vs Scotland, T20 World Cup-2021 : Afghanistan defeated Scotland by a huge margin of 130 runs in the Super-12 stage of the T20 World Cup in Sharjah. Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi won the toss and decided to bat first. The team scored 190 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 4 wickets, giving Scotland a target of 191 runs to win. In response, Scotland’s innings was reduced to a total of 60 runs in 10.2 overs. Mujeeb ur Rahman while bowling lethally took 5 wickets giving only 20 runs in 4 overs. He was adjudged man of the match.

Najibullah Zadran scored 59 runs in 34 balls for Afghanistan, his innings included 5 fours and 3 sixes. Chasing the target of 191 runs, half of the Scotland team returned to the pavilion till the score of only 36. Mujeeb ur Rahman showed amazing in the fourth over of the innings and took 3 wickets. He bowled captain Kyle Coetzer on the second ball. On the next ball, Callum McLeod (0) was dismissed lbw and then on the last ball, Richie Berrington (0) was sent to the pavilion. In the next over, Matthew Cross was caught by Naveen-ul-Haq at the hands of Shahzad.

Then in the sixth over, Mujeeb showed opener George Munsey (25) the way to the pavilion. Rashid Khan made Michael Leask (0) a victim on the third ball of his first (7th over of the innings). Mujeeb completed his 5 wickets by bowling Mark Watt (1) in his last over (8th of the innings). Earlier, Hazratullah Zazai and Mohammad Shahzad gave Afghanistan a good start and scored 22 runs in 3 overs. The team’s 50 runs were completed in 5.1 overs. Shahzad was dismissed after scoring 22 runs and Afghanistan got the first blow on the team score of 54 runs. Hazratullah Zazai missed the half-century and became the victim of Mark Watt after scoring 44 runs. For Scotland, Safayan Sharif took 2 wickets, Josh Davey and Mark Watt got 1-1 wickets.

Afghanistan scored 82 runs in 10 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. He completed 100 runs in 12.2 overs while 150 runs in 16.4 overs. Scotland did not lose 1 out of 3 matches in the qualification stage. He qualified while topping Group-B with 6 points.
