Srinagar. Non-local laborers who were targeted by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir will not be sent to security camps. Late on Sunday night, Kashmir IGP Vijay Kumar said that the orders received by district police officers to shift non-local laborers to police/army camps are fake. He said that no non-local laborer needs to take shelter in the army or police camp.
Actually, after the killing of 2 non-local laborers in Kulgam, a statement was issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Police. It was said in this statement that all the district heads should collect the non-local laborers and immediately bring them to the nearest security camps. However, hours after this statement, Kashmir’s IGP Vijay Kumar has termed it as fake.
4 non-local civilians killed in 24 hours
Terrorists shot dead two non-local laborers and injured another in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Sunday. Kashmir Zone Police said on its Twitter handle, “Terrorists fired indiscriminately at non-local laborers in Wanpoh area of Kulgam. Two non-locals were killed and one was injured in this terrorist incident. It said that the police and security forces have cordoned off the area. According to officials, the terrorists entered the rented accommodation of the laborers and fired indiscriminately at them.
Significantly, this is the third attack on non-local laborers in less than 24 hours in Jammu and Kashmir. A street vendor from Bihar and a carpenter from Uttar Pradesh were shot dead by terrorists on Saturday evening.
Amid the killings of civilians, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha vowed to avenge every drop of blood by targeting terrorists and their supporters.
