Indian Railways launched a special checking drive against tickets and passengers traveling on the roof of the train, 15 sent to jail

A checking campaign has been started on behalf of Delhi Division against passengers traveling without ticket in unreserved trains operated by Northern Railway. Along with this, work is being done to curb the passengers traveling on the roofs on this route.

Delhi’s Divisional Railway Manager Dimpy Garg said that on the Delhi Shahdara-Shamli rail route, a campaign was launched between Noli and Delhi Shahdara stations to prevent ticketless travel and the danger of roof travel. An investigation drive was conducted by the Special Railway Magistrate at Noli railway station of Shahdara-Shamli rail section for passengers traveling without ticket and traveling on the roof/notch of the train. Railways is taking strict action against such passengers.

DRM Garg said that 29 ticket checking staff of Delhi Division and 19 Railway Protection Force staff were deployed at Noli railway station for this checking campaign. During checking, 05 passengers traveling on the roof of the train were caught by the Railway Protection Force and action was taken as per rules. Every effort was also made to increase the awareness among the passengers that they should not travel on the roof / footpad.

Ticket checking drive is being run continuously in Delhi Shahdara-Shamli-Saharanpur rail section. Special Railway Magistrate inquiry is also being conducted on this section from time to time. Intensive ticket checking campaign is being conducted in all sections, trains and stations of Delhi Division.

The DRM said that 148 passengers were caught without tickets for checking and Rs 34,800/- railway revenue was collected from them. At the same time, 10 passengers without ticket who could not pay the fine and 05 passengers who were traveling on the roof/notch of the train were sent to jail as per the orders of the Special Railway Magistrate.
