Sikkim government will make environment heritage film village will give these facilities to filmmakers nodkp


New Delhi. The Sikkim government has sent a proposal for development of ‘Environmental Heritage Film Village’ to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (Donor) with the aim of developing the state as a major site of film production. While giving this information to the media on Tuesday, Sikkim’s Information and Public Relations Minister Loknath Sharma said, “We want to develop Sikkim, famous for its organic farming system, as a major destination for film production and tourism in the country.” With this view, Sikkim Film Promotion Board has been established. We also announced the film policy of the state last year.

He said that the Sikkim government wants filmmakers from across the country and abroad to come to the state and produce films. Sharma said, “To promote film tourism in the state, we have selected 100 film shooting locations, which are very rich in natural beauty. We have made a film policy, in which provision has been made to encourage local and national level filmmakers.

He said, ‘To develop the state from the point of view of film production, we have prepared a proposal for the development of ‘Environmental Heritage Film Village’ in Yangang and sent it to the Centre. This proposal has been sent to the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (Donor). During this, Sharma also announced to organize the second Sikkim Global Film Festival from December 10.

Sikkim Film Promotion Board chairperson Pooja Sharma said that if a filmmaker shoots 75 percent of the film in the state and takes 50 local artists, then he will get benefits from the state government under the scheme.
