IPL 2021: Chennai Super Kings again on top after defeating Kolkata, Ravindra Jadeja’s ‘stormy’ avatar shown


New Delhi. Three-time champion team Chennai Super Kings defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (CSK vs KKR) by 2 wickets on the last ball on Sunday in a very exciting match of IPL-2021. Kolkata scored 171 runs for 6 wickets and Chennai got a target of 172 runs to win, which they achieved by losing 8 wickets. With this victory, the Chennai Super Kings team once again reached the top of the points table. He has 16 points from 10 matches. At the same time, KKR had to face the sixth defeat in the same number of matches and it remains at number four with 8 points.

Chennai needed 26 runs to win in the last two overs. Ravindra Jadeja showed amazing performance in the 19th over of Pacer Famous Krishna’s innings. Earlier, Kolkata scored 171 runs for 6 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Rahul Tripathi scored the highest 45 runs for KKR. Apart from him, Nitish Rana contributed 37 not out and wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik contributed 26 runs. Nitish and Karthik added 41 runs for the sixth wicket. For Chennai, pacers Shardul Thakur and Josh Hazlewood took 2-2 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja got 1 wicket.

Rana returned unbeaten on 37, who hit 3 fours and 1 six in his unbeaten innings of 7 balls.

Kolkata got the initial blow in the very first over itself when Gill was run out. After this Venkatesh Iyer and Rahul Tripathi added 40 runs for the second wicket. Venkatesh was caught by Dhoni behind the wicket by Shardul Thakur on the personal score of 18. He hit 3 fours in 15 balls. Captain Eoin Morgan also could not do much and became the victim of Josh Hazlewood by scoring only 8 runs in 14 balls. Tripathi was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja, who hit 4 fours and 1 six in his 33-ball innings. Russell (20 runs) was victimized by Shardul Thakur, who returned to the pavilion as the team’s 5th wicket.
